The Youth Shelter Program of Westchester is based in Mount Vernon, where it has provided support to at-risk youths for 40 years. The Shelter’s primary purpose is to offer a nurturing alternative to jail for males between the ages of 16 and 21, who are awaiting a final ruling of criminal charges.
The funds allocated by Westchester County will support the Youth Shelter's mission by continuing to provide support, job training, and educational programs for young men. Through these programs, the Shelter aims to instill the values of discipline and showing respect to others. To learn more about the Youth Shelter Program of Westchester, visit https://www.ysow.org/.
